Excellence in Ballet Training and in Life
Jordan School of Ballet
Biography
I am trained in the Russian Vaganova method and Balanchine technique of classical ballet. I have had the privilege to study with respected and well known names from throughout the world such as David Holmes, Dennis Nahat, Ellen Costanza and Daniel Job just to name a few. I have danced with the original Cleveland Ballet, Ballet Michigan and performed as the guest ballerina with the Cleveland Orchestra. I also have taught for the School of Cleveland Ballet, The Dance Institute in Akron and Akron University along with private studios.

I teach all levels of ballet, pointe and stretch classes that increase both flexibility and turnout. I specialize in private coaching and cleaning technique for ballet, lyrical and jazz choreography. One of my greatest strengths is the ability to break down a curriculum and choreography for students so that they are able to cleanly connect and demonstrate their work with accuracy, and a clear understanding of execution. Building a solid foundation for training in this way makes progress both steady and rapid.
You may be a student looking to improve your dancing through a better understanding of ballet technique in a one on one environment, or maybe you just have a love for the art of dance. Or maybe you are a serious student hoping to perform in a youth ballet company here where your work can be displayed. Perhaps, you are a studio owner wanting master classes or workshops.Whatever the case may be, I would love to hear from you! I am currently residing in the Warren-Youngstown,Ohio vicinity with my husband and best friend John and our family.

Professional Experience

Lisa began her early training in Youngstown, Ohio with Ballet Midwest under the tutelage of Anna-Baker Vancura and Barry Vancura, currently artistic directors of Ballet Tennessee and Vancura Ballet Conservatory.
Lisa continued her intensive training at the School of Cleveland Ballet ( founded by Dennis Nahat and Ian Horvath in 1972 -2000) where she had the opportunity to study under an international faculty. Her training includes working with revered teachers and coaches from all over the world.

Lisa Jordan performed as a soloist with the Contemporary Ballet Theatre of Williamsburg, Virginia, a principal dancer with Ballet Michigan, and as a guest artist with ballet companies throughout the country. She has also performed with the original Cleveland Ballet (founded by Dennis Nahat and Ian Horvath 1972-2000), and Pointe of Departure, a professional ballet company constructed of former Cleveland Ballet dancers, most recently known as Ballet San Jose.
Lisa was also given the honor of performing as the guest ballerina, dancing the role of Cinderella, with the world-renowned Cleveland Orchestra at Severance Hall in Cleveland.

In addition to her professional ballet experience, Lisa was selected from more than 2,500 dancers nationwide to be a dancer for Busch Gardens Theme Parks. She was just out of high school when chosen for this wonderful dance opportunity.
Not only does Lisa have an extensive professional performance background, she also has quite an extensive teaching background. Lisa has taught every level of ballet at the School of Cleveland Ballet. She was also a faculty member with both the Dance Institute and the University of Akron where she taught both ballet and pointe. In December 2003, Lisa had the opportunity of being the ballet mistress and director of 50 students chosen by the Moscow Ballet to perform with them in their production of "The Great Russian Nutcracker." Jordan School of Ballet under Lisa's direction was again the host school for Moscow Ballet's Nutcracker for 2019. Jordan School of Ballet currently performs two ballet productions each year (one includes an annual production of The Nutcracker).
Each summer for ten years, she co-directed, choreographed and taught dance for a fine arts program for a public school system in Portage County. This workshop provided instruction in voice, dance, drama and set design. At the end of the session, students used their skills obtained from the two-week workshop to put on a complete musical theater production for their community.

Lisa was nominated into the 2007 edition of "Who's Who in American Women." Her extensive knowledge of ballet and technical excellence has enabled her to judge for dance competitions. She also trains and coaches students of all levels who are preparing for competitions including Youth American Grand Prix (YAGP), an international ballet competition as well as professional careers. Most of all, she enjoys sharing her love of dance with everyone and the important values that this art form can teach us for our everyday lives.
