Hello, I would love to share a little bit about my passion and my background. I grew up in the Youngstown area, but my family was located both in the Warren area and New Castle, Pa. so I'm a local gal. I had started out pursuing a career on Broadway while I studied tap and jazz dancing, however in my childhood I was really blessed when a husband and wife team from American Ballet Theatre in New York City came to Warren. They established a very serious ballet school and youth ballet company. Their names were Anna and Barry Vancura.
The challenge of ballet just fascinated me because up until then dancing came very naturally for me. But ballet was based on absolute and fixed principals and I realized there was no gray area -it was either right or wrong. It demanded something of me and I knew I would be better as a person and a dancer because of this.
So I decided in about a minute I would pursue a ballet career with all of my heart. I went on to have a very successful career as a professional ballerina and danced many Principal roles in companies such as Ballet Michigan, Contemporary Ballet Theatre in Virginia, Ballet Theatre Ohio, performing with the original Cleveland Ballet which was then a world class company under the direction of Dennis Nahat. And a special highlight for me was having the honor of being the first ballerina asked to perform with the world renowned Cleveland Orchestra, which still holds the title as being one of the finest orchestras in the world.
